RACE DATES: June 8 – August 11, 2024, 20 days of racing.

The Wyoming Gaming Commission is accepting applications for employment for a Safety Officer/Deputy Steward. The Commission has preference for someone that has previous employment as a Safety Officer, Steward or Racing Official and has been certified by a national organization (Racing Officials Accreditation Program). The applicant shall have a comprehensive understanding of the laws of the State of WY and the rules promulgated by the Wyoming Gaming Commission. Applicants will make decisions regarding possible rule infractions and communicate all concerns to the Stewards presiding over the race meet. Be available to the Stewards, State Vet., and Security personnel. The applicant must have good communication skills, both verbally and in written form, be computer literate, and possess strong people skills.

Physical Expectations: 20-20 vision (corrected) and the ability to distinguish colors and be able to climb stairs. Requires extensive time in the barn area and monitoring of track related activity. On race days, extensive walking is necessary. Must be able to lift 35 lbs.
Education: One or more years of prior experience in the racing
industry and/or certified by a national organization (Racing Officials Accreditation Program).
Skills: Knowledge of the racing industry as it pertains to safety regulations and enforcement. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with persons of diverse backgrounds.
