Track Superintendent, Thistledown Racetrack - Cleveland, Ohio

Position Summary:

This position directs work required for the maintenance, repair and improvement of all buildings, equipment and grounds for the Track Maintenance group. Incumbent receives general direction from the Director of Racing and is expected to exercise independent judgment in the field. Work may be reviewed for results obtained.

Essential Functions:

• Direct & provide weekly task assignments to Track Supervisor for issuance to Track Maintenance and Maintenance Mechanic Team Members.
• Oversee a variety of Facilities Maintenance, repair or service duties to ensure continuous operation of the buildings for Racing on the Backside of the property.
• Ensure the use of appropriate materials and supplies while observing all safety regulations in the performance of duties on the property.
• Assure exceptional customer service to all patrons by communicating in a pleasant, friendly, and professional manner at all times.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Oversees a variety of maintenance duties, including repair or service duties.
• Performs general maintenance projects on the interior and exterior of the facilities.
• Supervises or operates tractor, water truck, and harrow equipment to maintain track surface.
• Conducts all duties of the maintenance program to ensure continuous operations in all buildings and mechanical facilities.
• Inspect all assigned equipment making note of weak or defective parts and making recommendations for correction.
• Treat others with courtesy and respect.
• Adjust and is flexible to meet changing work needs and demands.
• Works cooperatively with own and other teams to achieve common goals.
• Exhibits cooperative attitude while working on all job tasks, willingly assisting others.
• Demonstrates proper dress code.
• Demonstrates proper use of safety practices in all procedures.
• Immediately report unsafe incidents or unsafe conditions when they occur to the supervisor.
• Demonstrate proper use of PPE (glasses, gloves, belts).
• Must assist patrons in answering questions and directing them to areas of safety during emergencies as directed by management or security members.
• Must be knowledgeable of all OSHA and related safety materials.
• Return equipment to proper location, in proper working condition, properly emptied of solutions, cleaned and ready for next use.
• Demonstrate proper equipment usage according to department standards.
• Customer concerns in the employee’s area of responsibility are handled immediately and reported to the supervisor for follow up.
• Must adhere to all company/departmental polices and procedures. Must be aware and adhere to internal control rules.

Pre-Requisites/Preferred Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• Good oral communication skills and organizational skills are a must.

Licensing Requirements:

• Must have the ability to obtain and hold a license issued by the Ohio State Racing Commission.
