STEWARD - WYOMING DOWNS (WY)

POSITION TITLE: Steward (2) Positions

TYPE OF POSITION: Seasonal

LOCATION: Wyoming Downs, Evanston WY

RACE DAYS: June 8 – August 11, 2024, 20 days of racing.

The Wyoming Gaming Commission is accepting applications for employment of two (2) Stewards. The Commission has preference for someone that is a level one accredited Steward; however, level two accredited applications will be accepted. A successful applicant shall be certified by a national organization (Racing Officials Accreditation Program) and remain current and in good standing with that certification. As a member of the Board of Stewards, the applicant shall be responsible to enforce the laws of the State of WY and the rules promulgated by the Wyoming Gaming Commission. Applicants will make decisions regarding possible rule infractions, attend hearings, and issue rulings on all racing matters during the racing season. The applicant must have good communication skills, both verbally and in written form, be computer literate, and possess strong people skills.

Physical Expectations: 20-20 vision (corrected) and the ability to distinguish colors and be able to climb stairs. Requires travel to and from the barn area and the racing office. Must be able to lift 35 lbs.

Education: Three or more years of prior experience in the racing industry and/or certified by a national organization (Racing Officials Accreditation Program) and currently accredited.

Skills: Knowledge of the racing industry as it pertains to regulations and enforcement. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with persons of diverse backgrounds.
